Release Date

The 2022 book drive associated with the Dr. Martin Luther King Day breakfast was a big success this year.  There’s so much good research that shows the importance of making books available to young children in their homes, that this book drive has become an annual project for WAMS.  Although the MLK breakfast could not be held in person, the drive went on as a collaboration with United Way of Central Massachusetts and United Congregational Church.  United Way received a generous grant from Unum Insurance and bought both books and learning games to go into “literacy kits” for second and third graders in Worcester public elementary schools.  Thanks to the generosity of United Congregational and other churches and individuals, WAMS was able to provide 279 new books for this project – an increase of more than 50 over 2021.
